More people crammed into downtown Seattle yesterday to celebrate the Seahawks’ victory in Superbowl XLVIII (~700,000) than live in the city of Seattle (~630,000).*

Why so excited? Act like you’ve been there before, etc.

Well, check out Seattle’s rank among Forbes list of America’s Most Miserable Sports Cities, by year, since the list’s inauguration:

That latest ranking was released on July 31, 2013 – just over six months ago. Maybe, if we’re lucky, Seattle can move back down to number 2 next year.

[Update, 2/6: The 2014 rankings have not yet been released, but Forbes wasted no time confirming that it will not include Seattle. End of a dynasty. Beginning of another?]

*The largest Superbowl victory parade was held by New York in 2012 with close to 1.1 million people in attendance – given their relative populations, Seattle comes out looking OK.
