The traditional consolation prize for losing in the Championship round of the NFL playoffs is a trip to the Pro Bowl. It’s no Super Bowl, but a free trip to Hawaii is nothing to sniff at (unless you’re Marshawn Lynch). But this year, after their heartbreaking overtime loss to the Seahawks, a few Packers ended up with a trip to the Super Bowl anyway.
I’m sorry, did I say Super Bowl? I meant the Key & Peele Super Bowl Special:
This is a sketch the duo has performed before, but this time they introduced a twist: real NFL players. Here’s who they landed:
|Packers||Haha Clinton Dix*|
|49ers||Cornellius “Tank” Carradine|
You’ll notice the team that appears most frequently on that list — and stars as the punchline of the whole damn skit — is Green Bay.
And that level of cooperation may not have been possible if the Packers had made the Super Bowl. (Two teams that don’t appear: Seattle & NE.)
Thank goodness they didn’t mess anything up two weeks ago by winning.
*Highlight of the clip, as far as I’m concerned: “Is Haha Clinton Dix even real? This guy is amazing. So solid all season long for the Green Bay Packers.” All season long except, you know, on the crucial two point conversion by Russell Wilson and Luke Willson to help the Seahawks go up by three with a minute and a half to go. Whoops.
