According to YouTube, “hilarious couple” Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally appeared on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert December 15 to “battle for the Smooshed title in this Christmas-themed edition of Late Show’s signature cooking competition.” The competition is as follows: each contestant has about a minute to, well, smoosh together available ingredients — Colbert is the judge.
In keeping with his public persona, St. Nick surveyed said available ingredients and decided to “use that bourbon to fuel my creativity” by taking a couple of long swigs before he started any smooshing:
Just one problem: that right there is quite transparently a bottle of Bulleit Bourbon Frontier Whiskey (pictured at top), while Nick Offerman is officially a shill for two varieties of Scotch: Lagavulin and Oban. Now, Nick wasn’t the only one who went off-message on the Late Show — known Hillary supporter Megan Mullally told Colbert she was “feeling the Bern — I’m feeling the winning spirit” (Wrong.) — and, OK: Lagavulin, Oban, and Bulleit are all technically owned by Diageo. But still, it helps to stay on brand, and I’m honestly surprised the lawyers for those varieties of Scotch didn’t draft a contract for Offerman that was just a wee dram more Bulleit-proof.
