[This post is in keeping with a tradition of writing only about the Seahawks’ second most-recent victory.]
After they knocked off the St. Louis Rams on Monday Night Football, Pete Carroll was inexplicably photobombed by — well, just take a look:
Nobody could come up with any sort of explanation — except me.
The eureka moment came when Barack Obama tweeted a photo of his own shortly thereafter:
In Obama’s photo, you see the POTUS and the FLOTUS, with a female Rebel Alliance pilot directing traffic behind her. And photobombing the first couple are none other than Chewbacca and a storm trooper — and it doesn’t take a lot of imagination to figure out who else must be standing just outside the frame.
And if we know Darth Vader is at the White House, and also in the background of a Pete Carroll interview, we can deduce that Pete must be somewhere close by as well! [At this point, I would argue Russell Wilson is Luke Skywalker, but he’s already Harry Potter, so no dice.]
Now, what business might the Seahawks head coach have in the other Washington? We all know there’s only one legitimate reason for a football coach to show up at the White House, and that’s to accept the President’s congratulations on winning the Super Bowl. Sound farfetched? Maybe — but hear me out.
Granted, the Ravens won the Super Bowl in 2013. But Carroll’s not there for winning the Super Bowl in the past — he’s there for winning it in the future!
And if you think that’s preposterous, consider the following pattern of behavior. Obama hosted the Super Bowl-winning Ravens in June, four full months removed from their victory over the Evil Empire San Francisco 49ers:
Yesterday, he hosted the Chicago Blackhawks (who won the Stanley Cup, which is a hockey thing) five months after their victory:
And those visits were actually reasonably timely — it took him a full 8 months to get the San Francisco Giants down for a visit:
The Seahawks, by contrast, are only three months early — a number well within the President’s margin of error!
